Contents
The course provides analytical tools useful for critically reading a film. Lectures are complemented by individual viewings of the proposed works and moments of guided group discussion, encouraging the development of a personal and informed perspective. Participants will gradually delve into the main elements of cinematic language, understanding the role of each department in the construction of the audiovisual narrative.
The course is supported by a dedicated online platform, which allows you to review lessons, consult supplementary materials, and interact with other students even outside of in-person meetings.

Photographer, Director of Photography, and Visual Language Instructor
For over fifteen years, Alessandro Casalini has explored and narrated the world through the lens, moving naturally between artistic, commercial, and cinematic photography. He has served as Director of Photography for commercials, short films, feature films, events, and theatrical productions, collaborating with major organizations such as Sky, La Feltrinelli, RCR, the Uffizi in Florence, and on film projects including Zoraide, Dead Bride, Rinascimento dell’Arte, and Fuoco Sacro.
A photographer with both technical and poetic sensibility, he combines professional rigor with expressive research, guiding participants to understand how light, color, and composition can become powerful storytelling tools.
Since 2015, he has been a Photography and Cinematic Photography instructor at Accademia Cinema Toscana, where he trains new generations of visual artists through an approach that blends hands-on experience, creativity, and visual awareness.
With him, photography is not just a technique, but a way to train the eye and give shape to emotions.
