Target audience: Anyone aged 18 and over who wishes to explore the world of photography and visual storytelling, both for personal and professional purposes.

The Photography Course will guide you step by step in discovering the language of photography, from technical foundations to the creative choices that make an image truly your own.

Plan

  • Introduction to narrative
    Differences between short stories and novels. Analysis of the fundamental pillars of narrative: plot, characters, and themes.

  • Character Building
    Creating three-dimensional and believable characters: desires, conflicts, goals and narrative roles (protagonists, antagonists, secondary characters).

  • Plot development
    Narrative structure, tension building, conflict management, climax and resolution.

  • Worldbuilding
    Designing narrative worlds that are coherent and functional to the story, whether real or imaginary, and analyzing the role of the setting.

  • Narrative points of view
    Studying different narrative perspectives (first person, third person, omniscient narrator, etc.) and choosing the most effective voice.

  • Effective dialogues
    Techniques for writing natural, believable, and engaging dialogue, avoiding common mistakes.

  • Recurring themes and motifs
    Development of the work's profound themes through symbols, metaphors, and narrative references.

  • Show, don't tell
    An in-depth look at the Show, Don't Tell technique to make emotions, actions, and conflicts more vivid and engaging.

  • Conclusion of the journey
    Reading and commenting on texts produced by participants, with collective discussion and feedback aimed at improving style and narrative awareness.

Photographer, Director of Photography, and Visual Language Instructor

For over fifteen years, Alessandro Casalini has explored and narrated the world through the lens, moving naturally between artistic, commercial, and cinematic photography. He has served as Director of Photography for commercials, short films, feature films, events, and theatrical productions, collaborating with major organizations such as Sky, La Feltrinelli, RCR, the Uffizi in Florence, and on film projects including Zoraide, Dead Bride, Rinascimento dell’Arte, and Fuoco Sacro.

A photographer with both technical and poetic sensibility, he combines professional rigor with expressive research, guiding participants to understand how light, color, and composition can become powerful storytelling tools.

Since 2015, he has been a Photography and Cinematic Photography instructor at Accademia Cinema Toscana, where he trains new generations of visual artists through an approach that blends hands-on experience, creativity, and visual awareness.

With him, photography is not just a technique, but a way to train the eye and give shape to emotions.
